Getting married will bring out every emotion in yourself. Joy, creativity, stress, fear, and finally an overwhelming sense of calm once it’s all done. One of my favorite parts of planning was all of the bridal details from my nails to the veil to my dress. I loved seeing my vision come together and couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.
Getting Ready
As a former bridesmaid, I knew that the getting ready process can mean just as much to the wedding party as it does to the bride and groom. So I wanted my girls to not only be comfy but also feel gorgeous. I found these silk robes for myself and my bridesmaids online at Etsy and absolutely loved how the color matched our unique wedding color scheme.
I wanted our moms to feel equally at ease, so of course, I couldn’t leave them out of the robe party. I ordered the same robes from Etsy and decided to order navy blue so my mama’s stood out.
The top left pic is me opening letters of advice from each of my bridesmaids…it was super sweet to get right before I walked down the aisle.
THE Dress
Ah THE DRESS! I knew from early on I wanted a mermaid style dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves. It wasn’t easy to find, but by the grace of God, I found my dress when I was searching through bridal designers online and found it on Tara Lauren’s website. The second I saw it I knew it was the one and luckily the bridal store down the street from my job carried it. My experience at Love & Lace Bridal in Echo Park was everything I dreamed of and more. It’s a super small and intimate shop that specializes in romantic, boho dresses. So, if you’re a hassle-free bride who doesn’t need to try on 30 dresses before finding the one, I highly recommend making a stop at Love & Lace.
The Deets
It was really important to incorporate our faith into our ceremony. Leading up to the wedding we found our favorite scriptures about love, printed them out at Fedex and put them in these frames I purchased from Target. I wanted to use decorations that we can use after the wedding so we’re repurposing these frames for the wedding photos in our house.
I also got our vow books on Etsy and they’re in a keepsake with other items from the wedding that we’ll read on our anniversary.
Us
We wanted our wedding to feel like it was ours. When we first started dating, Doug and I instantly bonded over our love of music and would constantly take drives to the beach blasting music. Doug played the song “Hey” by King for me one time and I fell in love; with him and the song. So, it was the perfect song for my bridesmaids to walk down the aisle to set the mood for the wedding.
After our nuptials we walked back down the aisle to “Nothing Like You” by Ty Dolla $ign, my signature raspberry margarita and Doug’s signature rum and coke were served, we had a candy bar, mac and cheese was part of the buffet and we Swag Surfed before the night was over. It was pure, authentic and us.
