As working twenty year olds with three jobs and a few college courses between the two of us, its common for us to stay in bed all weekend and watch TV. However, a good date night goes a long way in keeping our sanity and maintaining some romance. Here are the weekends festivities:
The Roof on Wilshire- Los Angeles, CA. We started off our weekend at my friend’s birthday celebration. Unfortunately after a few drinks, I didn’t actually get a picture of us at the gorgeous rooftop bar so we snapped a pic in the lobby of The Hotel Wilshire where the bar is located.
Downtown Glendale. After being too lazy to go to North Hollywood, we decided to stay local and explore some new places. Although I grew up here, there are so many spots throughout LA that make for a great date night.
Islands- Glendale, CA. Now before you go knocking a chain restaurant, Islands is one of the best chains on the West Coast. Their Kids Tiki Tenders with Cheese Fries and the Lava Flow (which consists of rum, coconut stuff, and creamy goodness) is too great of a meal to pass up on! Bae got the Yaki tacos, which is pretty much Teriyaki inspired chicken tacos and a strawberry daiquiri which was surprisingly really good.
Tavern on Brand- Glendale, CA. Aw, yes. Here’s when the fun started. I love this bar because they literally always have a deal going on. Their happy hour boasts 2 for 1 beer while they have daily drink specials after 7pm. Saturday’s special was the bartender special, which was a Lemon Drop that night. This was also my first Lemon Drop ever so I was pretty satisfied.
The Moose Den-Glendale, CA. After leaving Tavern on Brand we walked down Brand exploring new places. After Doug bought me a red rose from a street vendor (he’s so romantic) we discovered The Moose Den. This place is a true dive bar, equipped with a huge selection of beer, fooze ball, and darts. I won, by the way.
Conrad’s- Glendale, CA. I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid with my mom after church. It’s full of old timers and people rolling out of bed looking for some classic diner food. The coffee and French onion soup was very necessary after a night of drinking.
Conrad’s- Glendale, CA. There’s nothing like a good lunch after drinking. I woke up craving a tuna melt, randomly, and this satisfied every single craving and then some. Doug got the patty melt.
