The 3 Types of Love We All Experience

Day 20-something of quarantine and I’m reflecting…hard. My daily routine consists of me making myself coffee and then sitting in front of my laptop working for 8 hours. Then, I do some sort of exercise and then I’m bored. Which gets me to thinking and lately my subject of interest has been love. Something about removing yourself from human contact and daily chaos will lead to some serious introspection.

So with that, I’m breaking down the three loves I think we all experience in life. Comment below if this hits home.

1. The First Love. It’s often discredited as puppy love, but we all knew it was real regardless of whether or not you sent love letters over t-mail and made them your avi on AIM. This is a love that comes after your tester boyfriend/girlfriend potentially in middle school. Probably comes after your first hand-holding in public, after your first kiss and maybe even your first heartbreak. At least you thought it was heartbreak until this.
   
   Your first love molds you. It might determine your love language later in life and it sets the precedent for why you approach relationships the way you do now. Just like a lot of the things you were into at this time like learning guitar and intricate Myspace codes, you start to grow away from it. You become who you were meant to be and so do they.
   
2. The Sh*tshow Love a.k.a. Your Second Love. You learn just who you are and who you are not from this one. By this point, you know what love is. You know what kind of date you want to be taken on, you know what type of kisses you can’t stand and you’re plotting out your future. Which leads you to maybe convince yourself that this is the one. Sure there are red flags, but who isn’t flawed, right?
   
   You figure a relationship isn’t supposed to be like your first love, it’s only natural that things get real from time to time because at this point you’ve experienced a lot in life. You may have lost a grandparent by now, you’re probably moving away from home, you’re deciding who you want to be in the future and you’ve convinced yourself that this person deserves to be there. But then the red flags again and eventually (after a lot of convincing) you reach your breaking point and it hurts.
   
3. Your final love. It probably snuck up on you and popped up out of nowhere. This love looks different from your usual – physically, mentally or maybe even both. It’s more mature than your first love and way more stable than your second which leads you to be a skeptic even though it feels like home. Unlike the other two, you find yourself digging DEEP for red flags. If you’re a fellow over-thinker you might make some up in your head, but nothing comes to fruition because this is legit.
   
   This one is a combination of all of those prayers you asked for over the years (including a few from your mom after she saw what you went through last time.) But you needed the first two to get to this one. When you get to this love it will be evident and undeniable. In the best way possible, this one was in the plan all along.
