5 Black-Owned Candle Companies to Make Your Home Instantly Cozy

Not sure about you, but the quickest way to create an at-home luxury experience is with the light of a candle. As we all know, aromatherapy can boost your mood and ease stress and is a simple self-care activity that can go a long way. AND we love to support Black entrepreneurs year-round so I’m sharing some amazing Black-owned candle companies below. Enjoy!

Laguna Candles

Not only does this brand sell their own line of candles, but they also manufacture candles for those of you interested in getting into the smell-good business. Their private label candle collection allows you to create your own candle line complete with unique scents and low minimum orders to get started.

228 Grant Street

Kendal Brown, the founder of 228 Grant Street located in Baltimore, got the inspiration for the name of his brand from his grandmother’s home. Prior to starting the brand, Brown had an extensive career in ministry before he found himself searching for a creative outlet. After discovering an appreciation for high-quality candles, he turned that affinity into a business and started his brand that prides itself on unique scents inspired by nature and travel.

Joe and Monroe

Chicago-native, Joyaa Cole is a mom, IT project manager, and chandler (which I literally just learned is the official term for a candle maker.) Leave it to a Black woman to manage a full-time job while creating intriguing scents including pineapple sage made from a vegan blend of apricot and coconut wax. Also, her candles are very aesthetic.

Antik Lakay

This wellness brand aims to provide customers with their own personal zen space. All the candles have names like growth and serenity to really get the vibes going.

Serenity – $42

Lonéz Scents

Founded by Houston couple, Malik and Danielle, Lonéz Scents was created to uplift Black and Brown communities and also bring a little humor to the struggle (like a “laugh through the pain” type of situation.) On top of products being vegan, this brand is also low-waste so you can reduce your carbon footprint and support Black entrepreneurs at the same time! P.S. the “Keep healthy food in the hood” candle label is a personal fave.
