My Daily Staples | Black-Owned

Black people are truly unmatched. These black-owned products not only get me through the day but keep me feeling beautiful, healthy, and productive along the way.

Check them out and let me know if you purchase any of these items in the comments below.

Black Girl Sunscreen

I first tried the SPF 30 sunscreen after spotting this product at my local target. I love the glow the SPF 30 gives me and also use the matte product on my face to reduce grease. This sunscreen is also amazing because it’s packed with great ingredients including shea butter and coconut oil that leave my skin feeling healthy after use.

Mo’s Butter Naturals Shea Butter

Any daily routine wouldn’t be complete without a good shea butter. Extra points if it’s made by one of your best friends. I may be biased since one of my best friends makes this product by hand, but this whipped body butter is the key to keeping my skin VELVETY soft. The lavender vanilla scented butter is also one of my favorite ways to wind down every night.

Rosemary Mint Strengthening Edge Gel – $9.99

Mielle Edge Control

I have a love/hate relationship with my edges. I love them because they’re still existent but it’s difficult managing slick buns, ponytails, and braids when my edges are super sensitive to tension. Therefore, this edge control is great because it’s not too harsh on my hairline and also promotes growth.

Rosemary Mint Strengthening Hair Masque – $9.99

Mielle Hair Mask

Okay, so I decided to take my hair care seriously once we all went into quarantine since I had the extra time. This hair mask is a staple in my hair routine and I now use it every two weeks. My hair maintains moisture much easier and is stronger since I started using this product.

Hand Sanitizer – $3.99

J.Essentials Hand Sanitizer

I think the last two years have shown us that not all hand sanitizers are created equal and this one is top tier. The mango starfruit scent alone has earned its place in my daily routine and the paraben-free, dye-free product doesn’t irritate my hands like a lot of other sanitizers.

TGIN Leave-In Conditioner

After my completing my weekly wash routine, I go straight for my TGIN leave-in to keep my hair soft and hydrated. I apply this product to my hair at the start of my week and add the TGIN daily moisturizer as needed.

Top 3 Notebook – $39.99

Top 3 Planner

There is no product that contributes to my productivity more than this one. Prior to purchasing the Top 3 Planner, I relied on an intricate to-do list that grew uncontrollably by the day. I love this planner because it forces me to pick three tasks to focus on each day. Now, I no longer feel defeated by unreasonable task lists and feel a sense of accomplishment by meeting my top 3 goals.

Mented Lip Stick

I honestly haven’t worn lipstick in years, but when my own mother recommended I try Mented I couldn’t say no. Mented’s colors compliment melanated skin perfectly and don’t look too pink, which I love. I picked up the Brand Nude shade a few weeks ago at Target and I’m actually excited to be back in the lip game.

Candle Krack

After the first burn of my Candle Krack candle, I realized not all candles are the same. No exaggeration, these candles make our whole house smell amazing and the burn time is way longer than average. In addition to the Cucumber + Quarantine scent, the Lavendar + Sage candle is my favorite scent of all time.

Omi Woods Necklace

Pro tip: find out your ancestry and then purchase an Omi Woods necklace repping your country. I currently have the Trinidad and Tobago necklace, but I’m considering adding another piece to create a layering moment. Omi Woods’ pieces are great because they’re very simple but also make a statement by showcasing the African diaspora.
